Police Urgently Arrest Woori Bank Employee for Embezzling 50 Billion Won
[Asia Economy Reporter Gong Byung-sun] The police have urgently arrested an employee suspected of embezzling 50 billion won from Woori Bank.
Seoul Namdaemun Police Station announced on the 28th that the employee surrendered around 10:30 p.m. the previous day and was urgently arrested on charges of embezzlement under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Economic Crimes. The employee is reportedly suspected of embezzling approximately 50 billion won of company funds.

The police received a complaint from Woori Bank the previous day and began an investigation, during which they were taking measures such as banning the employee from leaving the country. A police official stated, "The employee came to the police station voluntarily to surrender," adding, "The suspect has not yet been interrogated, and the use of the embezzled funds has not been identified."
