LG Signs Carbon Neutrality MOU with Korea Forest Service

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Jin-ho] LG has partnered with the Korea Forest Service to restore forest resources damaged by wildfires on the East Coast and to preserve the natural ecosystems of flora and fauna.
On the 28th, LG announced that it signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Korea Forest Service for "Mutual Cooperation on Carbon Neutral Activities and ESG Management" at the Forest Vision Center of the Korea Forestry Promotion Institute in Yeouido, Seoul. The signing ceremony was attended by Choi Byung-am, Commissioner of the Korea Forest Service, Park Eun-sik, Director of International Forest Cooperation, and Park Joon-sung, Head of LG ESG Team.
Through this agreement, LG and the Korea Forest Service plan to jointly work on ▲restoring forests damaged by climate change and forest disasters such as the East Coast wildfires ▲preventing forest conversion and degradation ▲forest carbon offset projects, forest education, healing gardens, and other domestic and international forest projects, while strengthening public-private cooperation on carbon neutral activities.
Both parties will establish networks with domestic and international forest-related professional organizations and jointly review and promote measures to discover and link forest effect indicators to activate and support carbon neutral and eco-friendly corporate activities, including hosting international carbon neutral events such as the "World Forestry Congress," the most influential international forestry event in the forest sector.

Park Joon-sung, Head of LG ESG Team, said, "LG has established an ESG committee under the board of directors of major listed companies to promote more systematic and professional ESG management," and added, "Through the agreement with the Korea Forest Service, we will strengthen public-private cooperation to respond to the global challenge of climate change."
