Samsung Electronics Hires US Semiconductor M&A Expert
[Asia Economy New York=Special Correspondent Joselgina] Samsung Electronics has recruited Marco Chisari, a semiconductor investment expert from Bank of America (BoA), Bloomberg News reported on the 27th (local time), citing sources.
According to the report, Chisari has been serving as Managing Director and Global Head of Semiconductor Investment at BoA Merrill Lynch since 2018, and is an M&A expert in the semiconductor industry.
Previously at Merrill Lynch, he successfully closed several M&A deals including Infineon's acquisition of Cypress (worth $10 billion), AMS's acquisition of Osram (worth $4.6 billion), and Marvell's acquisitions of Aquantia and Avera.
From 2016 to 2018, just before joining Merrill Lynch, he worked as a Managing Director at Credit Suisse in San Francisco, handling M&A for technology companies. Major deals he advised on during his time at Credit Suisse include Analog Devices' acquisition of Linear Technology (worth $14.7 billion), Broadcom's acquisition of Brocade (worth $5.6 billion), and Qualcomm's attempted acquisition of NXP.

This recruitment comes amid active M&A activities in the semiconductor industry in recent years. However, both Samsung Electronics and BoA have not responded to requests for comment, the news agency added.
