The National Sports Center was selected last October under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism's National Sports Center Construction Support Project. With a total project cost of 5.3 billion KRW, including 1 billion KRW in national funding, it aims to create a 2,700㎡ community sports space.
The National Sports Center will be built as a space where club members and citizens can enjoy community sports.
After a design competition in June this year, construction is scheduled to begin in January next year and be completed by December 2024.
The Yulgok-dong tennis courts are being constructed with a budget of 400 million KRW to create two tennis courts covering 760㎡. Currently, site preparation and drainage work are underway. Completion is expected in May this year, with opening planned for June. The tennis courts will have artificial turf and lighting facilities, allowing use at night.

A Gimcheon City official said, “With the expansion of community-based sports facilities, which were lacking in Yulgok-dong, citizens can now conveniently use sports spaces. We hope that the revitalization of community sports will improve citizens’ health, physical strength, and quality of life.”
