The authority joined the event to revitalize Busan's cruise tourism industry and increase the added value of Busan Port through attracting cruises.
'Seatrade Cruise Global 2022' is the world's largest cruise expo organized by Seatrade, known for publishing shipbuilding and shipping specialized journals and hosting shipping and maritime-related conferences.
The event was attended by 500 exhibitors from 140 countries, including 80 cruise lines and travel agencies.
At the event, BPA operated a promotional booth with Busan Tourism Organization and conducted business consultations, targeting the small worldwide cruise market to carry out stable ship and tourist attraction activities in the COVID-19 era.
They focused on promoting attractions and various foods in the Busan and Gyeongnam regions to global travel agencies, cruise lines, and related port authorities, as well as promoting Busan Port's advanced port facilities and quarantine manuals.
Preparing for the COVID-19 endemic, the authority plans to systematically build the Busan Port cruise network by identifying changed customer demands from over 20 cruise lines that have called at Busan Port and attracting new cruise lines and travel agencies.
Kang Jun-seok, BPA President, said, "In preparation for the resumption of international cruise operations, we will pre-inspect Busan Port's cruise facilities and actively cooperate with local cruise-related industries to establish Busan Port as the international cruise hub of Northeast Asia."
