Suncheon-si Public Swimming Pool to Resume Swimming Lessons from the 16th of Next Month
[Suncheon=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Suncheon City in Jeollanam-do announced on the 27th that swimming lessons, which had been suspended due to COVID-19, will resume from the 16th of next month in line with the lifting of social distancing measures.
Swimming lessons will be held at three public swimming pools in Suncheon City: Palma Swimming Pool, Culture and Health Center Swimming Pool, and Shindae Youth Swimming Pool. Classes are divided into beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels according to swimming ability, and are split into two groups: Monday-Wednesday-Friday and Tuesday-Thursday, running from Monday to Friday every week.
The number of students recruited for lessons at Palma and Culture and Health Center Swimming Pools, where lessons were suspended due to COVID-19, will be filled only by vacancies excluding existing members for each course. The Shindae Youth Swimming Pool, which opened on the 31st of last month, will prioritize recruiting children and youth classes and partially recruit adult classes.
Applications for lessons can be made from the 2nd to the 7th of next month through the Suncheon City direct reservation website or on-site registration at the respective swimming pools. If the number of applicants exceeds capacity, member registration will be conducted through an online lottery.
Additionally, to address difficulties in registering new members due to continuous extension registrations by existing swimming lesson members, a swimming lesson completion system will be fully implemented.
Beginner class students will be promoted to the intermediate class after 6 months, intermediate class students will be promoted to the advanced class after 9 months, and advanced class students will graduate after 9 months of completion, allowing lessons to be taken within a total of 24 months.
Besides swimming lessons, anyone can use the swimming pools for free swimming.
However, for the safety of students and users, some usage may be restricted according to the lesson program schedule at each swimming pool session.
A Suncheon City official said, “We expect to contribute to improving citizens’ physical fitness by operating swimming pools normally, which had been limited due to COVID-19,” and added, “As more citizens are expected to use the swimming pools in the future, we will do our best in water purification and safety management.”
