Incheon Airport Corporation Holds Meeting with Logistics Companies... "Leap to World's No.1 Air Logistics"
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Hyun-seok] Incheon International Airport Corporation announced on the 27th that it held the ‘Incheon Airport Cargo Airlines and Logistics Companies Meeting’ to commemorate achieving the world’s 2nd largest international air cargo volume at Incheon Airport and to advance toward becoming the world’s No. 1 air logistics hub airport.
The meeting held the previous day was attended by Kim Kyung-wook, President of Incheon International Airport Corporation, representatives from seven cargo airlines including Korean Air, FedEx, UPS Airlines, and four logistics companies such as KWE Korea and Cosmo Hangun. They celebrated the achievement of Incheon Airport’s ranking as the world’s 2nd largest international air cargo hub and shared meaningful discussions on developmental cooperation measures to respond to the changing air cargo market after COVID-19.
Last year, the corporation achieved remarkable results in the air cargo sector by continuously attracting leading domestic and international logistics companies, investing steadily in logistics infrastructure development, and commencing operations of the Cool Cargo Center, handling an annual air cargo volume of 3.33 million tons.
Incheon Airport, through collaboration among the corporation, cargo airlines, and logistics companies, has stably handled air cargo since the spread of COVID-19. Last year, it recorded the highest growth rate compared to the previous year among the world’s three major airports (Hong Kong, Incheon, Shanghai Pudong), achieving the world’s 2nd place in international air cargo handling.
On this day, the corporation shared future plans to revitalize the Incheon Airport air cargo ecosystem along with these achievements. Specifically, the corporation plans to expand the cargo network through strategic cargo marketing such as ▲incentive support for airlines and logistics companies ▲construction of smart cargo terminals ▲strengthening air-sea combined logistics connectivity.
Participants shared each company’s major achievements and operational strategies from the previous year and discussed cooperation measures between the corporation and companies for the stable growth of the Incheon Airport air cargo market.

Kim Kyung-wook, President of Incheon International Airport Corporation, said, “This meeting was a very meaningful time to bring together the key players who achieved Incheon Airport’s world 2nd place in international air cargo and to exchange opinions on the present and future of the air cargo market.” He added, “Going forward, the corporation will spare no investment and support to realize a global logistics hub through the development of major transshipment and feeder routes and smart logistics clusters, aiming to leap forward as the world’s No. 1 air logistics hub airport handling over 7 million tons of air cargo by 2030.”
