Samsung TV in 2022 Obtains 'Carbon Footprint' Certification
Carbon Reduction Certification for 11 Models Including Neo QLED
[Asia Economy Reporter Jin-ho Kim] Samsung Electronics announced on the 27th that 11 new TV models for 2022, including the Neo QLED 8K, have received the 'Carbon Footprint - Carbon Reduction Certification' awarded by the UK Carbon Trust.
The Carbon Trust is a certification body established by the UK government to address climate change and reduce carbon emissions. It evaluates greenhouse gas emissions generated throughout the entire process of production, distribution, use, and disposal of products according to international standards and awards carbon footprint certification.
In particular, the carbon reduction certification is more meaningful as it is granted when carbon emissions are reduced compared to existing models of the same class.
Samsung Electronics reduced the TV's own weight and power consumption, receiving certification not only for Neo QLED but also for QLED, Crystal UHD, and lifestyle TVs such as 'The Frame' and 'The Serif,' marking the first time the entire new product lineup has been certified.
Samsung Electronics plans to apply more than 30 times the amount of recycled plastic compared to last year in display products such as TVs. By 2025, recycled materials will be used in the manufacturing process of all mobile and home appliances.
