Samsung Electronics Launches Professional Portable SSD 'T7 Shield'
Waterproof, Dustproof, and Drop Protection Design Features
[Asia Economy Reporter Jin-ho Kim] Samsung Electronics announced on the 27th that it has launched the portable SSD 'T7 Shield,' which offers industry-leading performance and durability.
The 'T7 Shield' is the successor to the 'T7 Touch,' which won the CES Innovation Award in 2020. It is the first Samsung portable SSD to feature IP65-rated water and dust resistance, and its durability has been enhanced to withstand drops from heights of up to 3 meters.
The 'T7 Shield,' the most durable among Samsung portable SSDs, can be used without concerns of data loss even when subjected to shocks in daily life, making it a reliable choice for users who engage in many outdoor activities or creators producing high-resolution content.
Supporting the USB 3.2 Gen2 interface, the 'T7 Shield' delivers industry-leading continuous read speeds of up to 1050MB/s and continuous write speeds of up to 1000MB/s for the 2TB model.
In particular, design optimizations have been made to reduce performance degradation and heat generation during large file transfers, enabling stable data transmission even during large-scale tasks such as high-resolution video recording and editing.
The 'T7 Shield' is compatible with various devices including PCs, Macs, Android-based smartphones, and game consoles. Two types of USB Type-C cables (C-to-C, C-to-A) are included.
Samsung Electronics has enhanced security by implementing 256-bit AES hardware encryption to ensure data protection even in case of loss.
The 'T7 Shield' has also minimized greenhouse gas emissions during manufacturing by reducing packaging materials to one-third compared to the previous generation T5.
Lee Kyu-young, Executive Director of the Brand Product Biz Team at Samsung Electronics Memory Business Division, said, "With excellent performance and durability, this product will be the optimal choice for users who enjoy various outdoor activities and creators producing high-resolution content."
The 'T7 Shield' offers three color options?Beige, Black, and Blue?and two capacity options?1TB and 2TB?providing a wider range of choices. The consumer prices are $159.99 for the 1TB model and $289.99 for the 2TB model, both supported by a 3-year limited warranty.
