In a statement distributed to the media that day, Nominee Won said, "During the presidential primary, a total of four vehicles were rented under the name 'Won Hee-ryong' for the primary campaign," adding, "Most of the traffic violations were committed by vehicles separately operated by campaign staff during the primary period."
He further stated, "As the person responsible, I sincerely apologize for not adhering more carefully to traffic regulations and will exercise greater caution moving forward."

Meanwhile, according to the personnel hearing request documents received by Jang Kyung-tae, a member of the National Assembly Land, Infrastructure and Transport Committee from the Democratic Party of Korea (DPK), which included records of fines imposed over the past five years, Nominee Won has repeatedly violated traffic regulations since September last year and was fined accordingly. These violations include 13 instances of illegal parking, 3 instances of driving in bus-only lanes, 3 instances of parking in disabled parking spaces, and 1 instance of violating convenience enhancement provisions. The total amount of fines imposed was 949,560 KRW.
