Jeonju City Provides Manpower Support to Farms During Busy Farming Season
Operation of Agricultural Workforce Support Office and Arrangement of Farming Work Teams to Support Agricultural Workforce Until June
[Jeonju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Han-ho] Jeonju City announced on the 26th that it will provide manpower support to farms facing labor shortages during the busy farming season.
The city's Agricultural Technology Center plans to fully focus on stable agricultural labor support to resolve labor shortages by operating a manpower support situation room for the busy farming season until June.
To this end, plans include △ operating the agricultural manpower support situation room △ revitalizing the operation of the Rural Manpower Brokerage Center △ organizing support from related organizations, volunteers, and petitions for rural labor assistance.
First, a recruitment window for rural labor assistance volunteers will be established at the agricultural manpower support situation room, and short-term manpower such as university students and the general public will be deployed to small farms burdened by labor costs until June.
To intensively support the insufficient rural workforce, the Rural Manpower Brokerage Center, which operates farm work teams and handles rural manpower mediation and brokerage tasks, has added Jeonju Agricultural Cooperative this year in addition to last year's Jeonju Horticultural Cooperative, aiming to support the insufficient rural workforce more efficiently.
Specifically, Jeonju Horticultural Cooperative plans to deploy 10 teams of vegetable and fruit farm work teams with about 110 members this year, mediating about 4,000 people, while the newly selected Jeonju Agricultural Cooperative aims to mediate about 3,000 rural workers during the busy farming season by operating 2 teams with 60 farm work members.
Separately, the Jeonju Agricultural Technology Center plans to support a communal meal project during the busy farming season, including lunchbox delivery for about 200 farms in 10 villages, and to carry out convenience equipment projects for 45 farms targeting women farmers, thereby promoting stable farming activities.
