LG Uplus Idleunara Wins Grand Prize at the iF Design Award
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Hye-sun] LG Uplus announced on the 26th that its dedicated platform for infants and toddlers, 'Uplus (U+) Idle Nara,' won the main prize in the TV & Mobile category at the '2022 iF Design Award,' one of the world's top three design awards.
The 'iF Design Award' is an international design award hosted by the German International Forum Design, considered one of the world's top three design competitions alongside Germany's 'Red Dot Design Award' and the United States' 'IDEA Design Award.' This year, the iF Design Award saw a record number of over 11,000 entries from both domestic and international works competing.
The reason U+ Idle Nara won the main prize at the iF Design Award this time is attributed to the intuitively designed child-customized home screen created using customer interviews and eye-tracking technology during the 2020 U+ Idle Nara revamp, as well as the child-exclusive remote control featuring U+ Idle Nara's original character, Yuppi, which received high scores, according to the company.
In particular, the first service screens for IPTV and mobile created category buttons using the main characters appearing in U+ Idle Nara. Because of this, young children who do not know Hangul can easily find menus through character icons. The U+ Idle Nara exclusive remote control was designed to be about half the size of a regular remote and made with soft materials to make it easy for children to use.
Previously, U+ Idle Nara also received the main prize in the communication design category at the 2018 iF Design Award, earning high marks for providing a new emotional experience through vivid interaction.
