View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heeyoon] The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced on the 25th that it will hold the first Hallyu academic conference (conference) with the Korea Tourism Organization under the theme "Hallyu Culture (K-Culture) as the Future of World Culture."
This academic conference was planned to deeply analyze Hallyu from various perspectives and to discover policy tasks to enhance the sustainability of Hallyu. It will be held at 2 p.m. on the 27th and will be live-streamed online with simultaneous English interpretation services available for anyone interested.
The first session opens the discussion under the theme "The Spirit of the Times of Hallyu and Policy Implications." Presentations include ▲Professor Kim Sunhyuk of Korea University with "Hallyu's Global Socioeconomic Capital and Cultural Creative Innovation," ▲Teppo TURKKI, Innovation Policy Advisor at the Finnish Ministry of Finance, with "Creating a Global Visitor Economy Innovation Ecosystem through Hallyu," ▲Professor Sam RICHARDS of Pennsylvania State University with "The Socio-Cultural Value and Challenges of K-Content," and ▲Research Fellow Kim Kyuchan of the Korea Culture and Tourism Institute with "Hallyu's Platform Economy and Media Ecosystem."
The second session addresses "Future Strategies for Sustainable Hallyu." ▲Professor Stephen DUNCOMBE of New York University will discuss "The Role of Hallyu in Sustainable Development and Social Innovation," ▲Research Fellow Chae Jiyoung of the Korea Culture and Tourism Institute will present on "Achievements and Challenges of Hallyu Tourism," ▲Secretary-General Kim Seonggwang of the Korea Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality (VR·AR) Content Promotion Association will speak on "Entrepreneurship in the Hallyu Content Industry in the Era of Digital Transformation," and ▲Professor Lee Sungmin of Korea National Open University will propose policies related to "Challenges of the Broadcasting and Video Content Industry for Sustainable New Hallyu."
Following this, under the moderation of Professor Lee Taejun of the Korea Development Institute (KDI) Graduate School of International Policy, discussants include ▲Director Kim Sunwoo of the Science and Technology Policy Institute, ▲Director Park Munggu of KPMG Digital Innovation Center, ▲Professor Shin Minsu of Hanyang University, ▲Professor Jeong Jong-eun of Sangji University, ▲Secretary-General Choi Kwangho of the Korea Music Content Association, and ▲CEO Choi Sungjin of the Korea Startup Forum.

A Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism official stated, "The Hallyu academic conference will serve as an opportunity to share Hallyu's role in enhancing national image and revitalizing related industries with the international community," adding, "The ministry will continue to lead policy innovation and public-private cooperation through Hallyu."
