"Run and Donate" Mercedes-Benz Give and Race Participant Registration Open
[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Dae-yeol] The Mercedes-Benz Social Contribution Committee announced that it will hold the "9th Mercedes-Benz Give & Race Virtual Run" over two days on June 4 and 5, in collaboration with the social welfare corporation Children and Future Foundation and Busan City. Registration will open on the 26th from 10 a.m.
Participants pay a registration fee of 50,000 KRW per person and can run at their preferred time and place within 48 hours. Additional donations are also welcome. By using the GPS-based smartphone application Strava, participants can record their times and check their rankings. This event, held annually since 2017, has become a flagship program of the company. Since 2020, when in-person participation became difficult due to COVID-19, it has been held virtually four times.
Thomas Klein, Chairman of the Mercedes-Benz Social Contribution Committee, said, "The donations raised through participation fees will support medical and educational expenses for children and youth, making it meaningful for both participants and beneficiaries."
This event is officially sponsored by Busan City, and registration will first be open to participants from the Busan and Gyeongnam regions. From 10 a.m. on the 27th, registration will open for participants from other regions. Pre-registration for Busan and Gyeongnam is limited to 2,000 people, and 8,000 people from other regions, totaling 10,000 participants on a first-come, first-served basis. Participants will receive commemorative items such as a T-shirt with the logo and a picnic tent. Those who donate an additional 10,000 KRW or more will receive a mug. Using the Strava ranking system, the male and female first-place finishers in each course and the participant who runs the longest distance will receive a smartwatch.
