Preemptive Action Taken Upon Detection of Fatal Accident Risks... Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency Introduces 'Quick Pass' for Small and Medium Enterprises
Rapid Support for Improvement Costs in High-Risk Workplaces with Fewer than 50 Employees
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] A new ‘Quick-Pass’ method to proactively eliminate fatal accident risks in industrial sites will be introduced.
The Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency announced on the 25th that it will implement a ‘Rapid Subsidy Support Method’ to quickly improve identified risk factors after patrol inspections and prevent fatal accidents.
This year, approximately 48.2 billion KRW will be invested in the Quick-Pass system. It is a hazardous risk factor facility improvement cost support project that swiftly addresses urgent risks at the site.
The agency provides subsidies to improve risk factors such as entrapment and falls at small and medium-sized workplaces with weak technical and financial capabilities through an annual facility improvement cost support project in the manufacturing industry.
To facilitate smooth implementation of this system, the process, which previously involved five steps from application to subsidy payment, has been simplified to a single step, reducing procedures and paperwork.
Under this method, when the agency points out fall or entrapment risk factors during on-site inspections, the business owner can apply for the subsidy after taking corrective measures and incurring costs, and the subsidy will be paid.
Previously, the agency had to review the business’s application and plan and go through procedures such as deciding on subsidy payments.
With the rapid support method, up to 70% of the incurred costs can be supported within a limit of 1 million KRW, with a maximum of 700,000 KRW, and support can be provided once per year per workplace.
If the amount required to improve risk factors at the workplace exceeds 1 million KRW, support is available through the existing ‘Hazardous Risk Factor Facility Improvement Cost Support (Manufacturing)’ project procedures.
