Fire at Dangjin Chemical Plant... Extinguished After About 3 Hours and 50 Minutes (Update)
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heung-soon] At around 3:22 PM on the 24th, a fire broke out at a chemical plant in the National Industrial Complex in Seokmun-myeon, Dangjin-si, Chungnam Province.
The fire department issued a Level 1 response, mobilizing all personnel and equipment from the jurisdictional fire station, and deployed 35 pieces of equipment and 176 personnel. After firefighting efforts, the fire was completely extinguished at around 7:12 PM, approximately 3 hours and 50 minutes after the fire started.
The fire damaged one factory building with an area of 1,317㎡ and its equipment. At the time of the fire, three people were inside the building, but all evacuated safely, resulting in no casualties.

The factory building where the fire occurred was recently completed and was reportedly in the process of installing equipment. The fire is believed to have started when sparks flew during welding work on a cooler. The fire department is investigating the exact cause of the fire and the extent of the damage.
