People Power Party: "Democratic and Justice Parties' One-Day Postponement of Han Deok-su Hearing Is a 'Political Trick'"
Heo Eun-ah "Even Mongni has never been this stubborn"
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunju Lee] One day before the parliamentary confirmation hearing for Prime Minister nominee Han Deok-su, the Democratic Party and the Justice Party urged a postponement of the schedule due to issues with document submission, prompting the People Power Party to counter, "Do not engage in political tricks."
Senior Spokesperson Heo Eun-ah issued a verbal comment on the 24th, saying, "The Democratic Party and the Justice Party are making an unreasonable move to delay the hearing."
Spokesperson Heo defended, "If the schedule delay is not accepted, they say they will even refuse to attend the hearing, which is an unreasonable tantrum. Candidate Han has sincerely responded to the necessary documents for verification as a public official and is fully prepared to explain the parts the public is curious about during the hearing."
He added, "The confirmation hearing is nothing but the beginning of the legislative branch fulfilling its duty to check the executive branch," emphasizing that the legislative branch must fulfill its responsibilities. Originally, Candidate Han's hearing was scheduled for the 25th and 26th.
Meanwhile, Democratic Party lawmaker Yang Kyung-sook has introduced a bill to amend the confirmation hearing law to allow punishment if a public office candidate makes false statements during the hearing.
