[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] As the Seoul City Bus Labor Union has announced a strike starting on the 26th, Songpa-gu (District Mayor Park Seong-su) announced on the 24th that it will implement emergency measures such as free operation of emergency transport vehicles (shuttle buses) to minimize inconvenience to local residents.
Songpa-gu has established an emergency transport countermeasures headquarters and is operating a situation room to proactively prepare for the announced Seoul city bus strike.
Currently, there are a total of 7 city bus companies operating 44 routes in Songpa-gu. In preparation for the city bus strike on the 26th, the district will operate emergency transport vehicles to reduce inconvenience to residents during commuting hours.
The 27 emergency transport vehicles (with capacities ranging from 12 to 45 seats) arranged by the district will operate from 5:30 AM on the 26th along 13 temporary routes within the area at intervals of 15 to 30 minutes.
Looking at the main temporary routes, there are ‘Songpa02’ operating between Jamsil Station, Mongchontoseong Station, Hanseong Baekje Station, Bangi-dong, and Seokchon Station; ‘Songpa03’ passing through Ogeum-dong, Bangi Station, Songpa Naru Station, Songpa-gu Office, and Jamsil Station; ‘Songpa11’ passing through Geoyeo Station, Gaerong Station, Ogeum Station, and Songpa Naru Station; and ‘Songpa12’ running between Munjeong-dong, Jangji Station, and Wirye New Town.
In addition, the district plans to deploy additional official vehicles to areas where extra dispatch is needed by monitoring the situation in real time.
The district has formed an on-site support team, assigning one public official per bus to provide guidance on boarding and routes at the site.
Furthermore, to minimize confusion among local residents and assist with the use of emergency transport vehicles, banners will be installed at 50 main roads, and from 8 PM on the 25th, announcements will be made in apartment complexes within the area. Detailed information such as the routes and operating times of the emergency transport vehicles will also be provided through the Songpa-gu website and QR codes on bus stop notices.
