[Asia Economy Reporter Kum Boryeong] Ahn Cheol-soo, chairman of the Presidential Transition Committee, resumed work on the 23rd by coming to the transition office after holding a funeral for his father.

On that day, Ahn met with reporters at the transition office in Tongui-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul, and said, "I came to work on Saturday immediately after the funeral," adding, "I believe my father would have wanted that. I trust he would think that I should work harder for the country and the people."

Regarding the areas he will focus on after returning to work, Ahn emphasized, "I will review the overall progress and start announcing parts that can be officially disclosed. Since I am in charge of the COVID-19 special committee, I will also check on its work and plan to make an announcement around next week."

When asked about the timing for outlining policy tasks, he replied, "We have had intense internal discussions for about a month, but we have not shared that process externally. Looking back at previous transition committees, publicizing the process often caused confusion rather than public consensus. Therefore, I have approached the work from the beginning with the belief that while internal discussions should be intense, the government should announce the results to properly explain its direction and avoid causing public confusion."

Regarding 'Geomsu Wanbak' (complete removal of prosecutorial investigative authority), Ahn said, "I have not received a report yet," and added, "I will speak after receiving a comprehensive briefing."
