On the 21st, candidate Kim Kyungja visited a beekeeping farm in Hampyeong County and listened to the difficulties caused by the 'winter disappearance of honeybees.'
Candidate Kim explained, "If the number of bees decreases, it adversely affects the reproduction of various wild plants and crops that require pollinators," adding, "To stabilize the management of beekeeping farms quickly and prevent the spread of damage, we will accurately diagnose the causes of damage and actively support the recovery of affected beekeeping farms by finding solutions."
Since January, damage caused by the nationwide disappearance of honeybees due to complex causes such as abnormal climate and honeybee pests (mites) has occurred, with the southern regions experiencing relatively larger scales of damage.
In particular, in Hampyeong, a damage survey was conducted in February targeting farms raising more than 30 honeybee colonies, confirming that out of 16,952 colonies surveyed, 6,810 colonies, accounting for 40%, were damaged.
Candidate Kim Kyungja emphasized, "For bees to be active and healthy, a clean and stable environment is necessary," and added, "We will diagnose the exact causes of damage to farms and promote and expand eco-friendly agriculture by preparing realistic countermeasures."
She continued, "To make Hampyeong a mecca of the beekeeping industry, we will support beekeeping materials such as queen bees, pollen, artificial hives, supplementary feed (sugar), as well as honey packaging materials, honey production equipment, eco-friendly beehives, and hornet exterminators to ensure stable income for beekeeping farms."
