"Former and Current Union Leaders 100 Declare Support for Kang Gijeong's Dream of a Safe Gwangju"
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] On the 21st, 100 current and former labor union representatives declared their support for Kang Gi-jeong, the Democratic Party of Korea's preliminary candidate for mayor of Gwangju Metropolitan City.
At the support declaration ceremony held at the Kangchu Camp on the morning of the 21st, they stated, "Kang Gi-jeong, a candidate who has proven to be capable through three terms as a member of the National Assembly and serving as the Senior Secretary for Political Affairs at the Blue House, is expected to open a new era for Gwangju," expressing their support.
They first pointed out, "We have lost the essence of Gwangju over the past four years," adding, "The Gwangju city administration has been plagued by corruption allegations, and the Hakdong disaster and Hwajeong-dong I-Park disaster have caused not only workers but all Gwangju citizens to suffer from safety negligence."
They continued, "We believe that Kang Gi-jeong, who declared he would become the control tower for safety, can realize the dream of a safe Gwangju," explaining their reasons for support: "Our children must be able to go to school safely, workers must be able to work safely, and citizens must be able to enjoy happiness in a safe daily life."
They also emphasized, "We trust the competence and drive of Kang Gi-jeong, who served as the longest-serving Senior Secretary for Political Affairs under the Moon Jae-in administration and contributed to the success of the Gwangju-type job project and the path toward becoming a leading city in artificial intelligence," adding, "Gwangju citizens are demanding rapid change. Kang Gi-jeong is a candidate who can meet the citizens' demands."
