Lotte Department Store Gwangju Branch Conducts Environmental Cleanup Activity for Earth Day

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Shin Dong-ho] Lotte Department Store Gwangju Branch conducted a cleanup activity to improve the environment of Gwangjucheon Stream on the 21st ahead of Earth Day.

Earth Day is a day established by environmentalists to raise awareness about the seriousness of global environmental pollution issues, and it is commemorated worldwide every year on April 22.

This volunteer activity was part of the citizen-participation Gwangjucheon Stream improvement project promoted by Gwangju City. About 50 participants, including volunteer firefighters from Lotte Department Store Gwangju Branch and staff from Gwangju Dongbu Fire Station, took part in cleanup activities and removal of harmful plants to improve the landscape of Gwangjucheon and build a community-friendly ecosystem.

In addition, an Earth Day environmental protection practice campaign was conducted targeting citizens passing by Gwangjucheon.

Store Manager Jeon Il-ho said, “To commemorate Earth Day, we carried out environmental cleanup activities to protect the precious Gwangjucheon Stream close to the citizens of Gwangju,” and added, “We will continue to strive to be Lotte Department Store Gwangju Branch that leads the development of the local community and environmental protection.”
