Haitai Confectionery Raises Prices of Snacks Including Honey Butter Chips and Baked Potato by an Average of 12.9%
[Asia Economy Reporter Song Seung-yoon] Haitai Confectionery announced on the 21st that it will raise the prices of eight snack products, including baked potatoes and wafers, by an average of 12.9% starting from the 1st of next month.
Specifically, the price of baked potatoes and wafers will increase from 900 won to 1,000 won, an 11.1% rise, while Jagabee, Honey Butter Chip, and Lollipop will go up from 1,500 won to 1,700 won, a 13.3% increase. Calorie Balance will increase from 1,700 won to 2,000 won, and French Pie will rise from 3,800 won to 4,200 won, marking increases of 17.6% and 10.5%, respectively.

A Haitai Confectionery official explained, "Prices have not been adjusted for products that have faced cost pressures for periods ranging from as short as four years to as long as twelve years, so we decided to adjust prices for these items." He added, "Due to the global surge in prices of essential raw materials such as flour, potatoes, and oils, we inevitably decided to adjust prices."
