[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] Park Namchun, Mayor of Incheon, will register as a preliminary candidate for the Incheon mayoral election in the June 1 local elections and declare his candidacy on the 25th.
According to the Democratic Party's 'The Greater Connection' election strategy preparation committee on the 21st, Mayor Park will visit the Kim Gu statue at Incheon Grand Park and the Memorial Tower at Subong Park in Michuhol District on the morning of the 25th, then register as a preliminary candidate at the Incheon City Election Commission.
Following this, Mayor Park plans to declare his candidacy at 'Incheon Aetteul,' the plaza in front of City Hall that was created as his first directive.
Starting his first election schedule with a meeting with the Incheon Traditional Market Merchants Association, Mayor Park is expected to express his determination to focus the newly launched 8th term of Incheon municipal administration on revitalizing the local economy.
On the 26th, he will announce the first lineup of the election committee, including the standing election committee chairman, and starting from the 28th, he will sequentially release pledges by sector, beginning with the economic field.
Once Mayor Park completes his preliminary candidate registration on the 25th, his mayoral duties will be suspended until the election day on June 1, during which time Deputy Mayor Ahn Younggyu will serve as acting mayor.
