[Asia Economy Reporter Na Ye-eun] A video showing two Russian men in Spain indiscriminately assaulting a Ukrainian bartender has sparked controversy.
According to the British daily Daily Express on the 19th (local time), two Russian men assaulted a Ukrainian bartender at a bar in the Alicante region of eastern Spain on the 17th.
The closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage released by the media shows that the Russian men entered the bar around 11:30 p.m. that day and tried to place an order but were informed that the business had closed.
However, they refused to leave the establishment, and the Ukrainian bartender approached them to explain once again that the business was closed.
Afterward, the Russian men asked the bartender about his origin, and the bartender replied, "I am Ukrainian. Glory Ukraine." Upon hearing this, the Russian men began assaulting the bartender.
Two women in the bar tried to intervene but were unable to stop the attack. The men assaulted the bartender for about a minute before leaving the bar, and the bartender collapsed on the floor, unable to get up.

View original imageAccording to the media, the assaulted Ukrainian bartender has lived in the Alicante region for 23 years. As a result of the incident, he suffered a broken nose and bruises all over his body.
The police immediately launched an investigation and revealed that the perpetrators were Russian brothers with prior criminal records.

Meanwhile, the video is rapidly spreading on social networking services (SNS). Thomas Henrik Ilves, former president of Estonia, shared the video on Twitter, stating, "Now is the time to expel Russia, a violent and war criminal state, from Europe."
