Yeongam-gun Focuses Administrative Efforts on Daily Life Recovery
Rapid Disbursement of 5th Disaster Relief Funds and Small Business Support Payments
[Yeongam=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Jae-kyung] Yeongam-gun, Jeollanam-do, is swiftly providing disaster living expenses, small business support funds, and public interest allowances for farmers and fishermen starting from the 8th to help restore daily life amid the COVID-19 pandemic situation.
First, the 5th round of disaster living expense support, which provides 200,000 KRW per resident to overcome the prolonged COVID-19 crisis, received great response from residents, achieving a 90% payment rate within 9 days of the start of distribution.
Unlike the 4th round, the 5th disaster living expense distribution operated visiting application days in each village, reducing the inconvenience of residents having to visit the township office in person and enabling rapid issuance of gift certificates.
Additionally, an online window was opened to increase convenience for those who had difficulty visiting in person, such as COVID-19 confirmed patients and military service members.
Since the first round of disaster living expenses in 2020, which provided 100,000 KRW per person, the county has supported a total of 750,000 KRW per person, including the current 5th round of 200,000 KRW, to overcome the COVID-19 crisis.
Yeongam-gun also promoted a small business support project to compensate for income loss due to decreased sales of small business owners caused by the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, completing over 60% of payments within a week.
By expanding prior publicity through text messages to the 1st and 2nd round recipients, the website, and banners posted in each town and township, 1.8 billion KRW was paid to 1,576 locations within 8 days.
Furthermore, through a review committee, Yeongam-gun confirmed 10,055 farming households eligible for the 2022 public interest allowance for farmers and fishermen on the 11th and decided to pay a total of 6.033 billion KRW, 600,000 KRW each.
This year, to help farmers and fishermen quickly restore their daily lives, the county actively accepted suggestions and changed the payment method from the existing split payments in the first and second half of the year to a lump sum payment in the first half.
The payment will be made via Yeongam Love Gift Certificates to promote consumption within the region, which is expected to help revitalize the local economy.
