Kim Tae-jin, Gwangju Seo-gu Council Member, Proposes Establishment of 'Seo-gu Carbon Neutral Support Center'
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Shin Dong-ho] Kim Tae-jin, a member of the Gwangju Seo-gu Council, proposed the establishment of the Seo-gu Carbon Neutral Support Center during a 5-minute free speech at the 2nd plenary session of the 303rd extraordinary meeting on the 20th.
Among the five autonomous districts of Gwangju, Seo-gu was the first to declare a 'Climate Crisis Emergency Action' and is making efforts to promote renewable energy distribution and improve energy efficiency through the installation of solar power in public and private sectors, the construction of fuel cell power plants, and the installation of standby power cutoff devices in public institutions.

Councilor Kim proposed three major preliminary tasks for the establishment of the Seo-gu Carbon Neutral Support Center (training village activists, establishing a resident participation model, and enacting a carbon neutrality support ordinance), stating, “Seo-gu Office is ahead in various aspects of carbon neutrality policies, having won the Excellence Award in the autonomous district category at the 2022 Korea Green Climate Awards hosted by the National Assembly Climate Change Forum on the 14th.” He added, “I ask the residents of Seo-gu to actively participate in carbon neutrality policies and gather collective intelligence to establish the Seo-gu Carbon Neutral Support Center tailored to our local circumstances.”
