Gokseong-gun Fosters Agricultural Management Entities through On-site Cross Coaching for Small but Strong Farmers
Improving Farm Management Through On-Site Coaching Combined with Visits to Advanced Farms
[Gokseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Cha Jong-sun] Gokseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that it completed the cross coaching education for small-scale farmers in four sessions on the 19th.
Cross coaching is a method where trainees visit other trainees' farms and, based on what they have learned and their own know-how, derive problem-solving measures through discussions.
At this time, experts accompany them to provide more specific and practical consulting.
Gokseong-gun introduced the cross coaching program in the basic course for small-scale farmers that started in March.
To this end, four trainee farms were selected where advanced agricultural management cases could be observed.
Starting with Samgi-myeon’s Good Farmer (mealworms) on the 31st, followed by Seokgok-myeon’s Bau Farm (black pigs) on the 5th, Okgwa-myeon’s Ttumbung Farm (grapes) on the 7th, and Samgi-myeon’s Chunwon Ranch (dairy farming) on the 19th, cross coaching was conducted through visits.
Farm owners introduced their farms and presented success and failure cases such as new variety cultivation, processing, and marketing. Trainees sought better alternatives through various opinions and discussions.
Go Eun-gang, CEO of Apple 63 Beonga, a trainee, said, “There were many things that were difficult to apply immediately in the field with just theoretical education. Through the small-scale farmers' on-site cross coaching, I was able to learn a lot about problem-solving skills needed in the actual field, which was very helpful. Although my farm is small now, it became an opportunity to dream of diversifying the business in the future, including expanding the farm size, processing, and the sixth industry.”
