Hwasun-gun Supports 'Eco-friendly Rice Shipping Incentive'

[Hwasun=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Ji-woon] Jeollanam-do Hwasun-gun is supporting a new policy called the ‘Eco-friendly Rice Shipment Incentive.’

The county announced on the 20th that it will start this support project for the first time this year to secure high-quality eco-friendly rice raw materials, activate the distribution of safe agricultural products such as school meals, and preserve the income of farmers practicing eco-friendly farming.

Applicants must be agricultural (legal) entities that produce eco-friendly certified rice with no issues after pesticide residue inspection during the previous year’s cultivation stage and ship it to designated purchasing companies.

Also, applicants must have their business address in the county, designate qualified agricultural cooperatives or corporations with storage or processing facilities as purchasing companies, and ship to those designated purchasing companies.

However, farms that did not ship to the designated eco-friendly rice purchasing companies or where pesticides were detected in the pesticide residue inspection results are excluded.

The companies designated as eco-friendly rice purchasing companies for the 2021 crop are ▲Hwasun Nonghyup RPC ▲Dogok Nonghyup RPC ▲Geumho Migok RPC ▲Hwasun Regional Eco-friendly Farming Corporation RPC ▲Neungju Nonghyup DSC, totaling five companies.

Those wishing to participate in the project can apply at the administrative welfare centers of the towns and townships where their farmland is located by the 29th.

If selected as a project beneficiary, they can receive support of ▲1,000 KRW per 40kg bag of pesticide-free rice ▲3,000 KRW per 40kg bag of organic rice produced and shipped in 2021.

A county official said, “We expect this to boost the pride of farmers practicing eco-friendly agriculture in difficult conditions such as the expansion of pesticide residue inspection items and contribute to enhancing the image of Hwasun as a safe agricultural product cultivation area for eco-friendly rice produced here,” adding, “We ask for the interest and applications of many farmers and fishermen.”
