Gwangju Nambu Fire Station Donates Fire Extinguishers in Preparation for Buddha's Birthday
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] The Nambu Fire Station of Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 20th that it visited the traditional temple Gwangdeoksa to provide fire prevention consulting and donate fire extinguishers.
The fire prevention consulting was conducted in preparation for Buddha’s Birthday, as the risk of fire increases due to the celebration and lantern events. It aimed to eliminate fire vulnerability factors in advance and strengthen safety management. The main points included ▲ management status of fire extinguishers, outdoor fire hydrants (emergency fire extinguishing device boxes), etc. ▲ initial fire response guidelines ▲ checking and guiding fire truck access roads near the traditional temple.
Most traditional temples are wooden structures highly vulnerable to fire and are located near forests, requiring special caution.
Accordingly, the Nambu Fire Station visited Gwangdeoksa within its jurisdiction, donated fire extinguishers, and conducted safety education on how to use and manage fire extinguishers so that related personnel can suppress fires at an early stage in case of fire occurrence.

Lee Jeong-ja, head of the Nambu Fire Station, said, “Since a large number of unspecified people visit, we operate a 1:1 safety responsibility system for traditional temples to continuously guide and visit them, raising fire awareness. We ask related personnel and visitors to be careful with fire handling so that traditional temples, which have traditional and historical value to our nation, are not lost due to fire.”
