"Namyang Dairy Employee Who Testified at National Assembly Hearing About Obtaining Pregnancy Waiver from Female Staff 'No Charges'"
Suspect's Crime Not Recognized
Non-Prosecution Decision on the 28th of Last Month
[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Sehee] It has been confirmed that the police have concluded 'no charges' against the employee reported by Namyang Dairy Products.
According to the Seoul Seocho Police Station on the 20th, the police decided not to prosecute Choi, who was accused of defamation, on the 28th of last month. The police explained that the suspect was found not guilty of the crime and therefore had no charges.
Choi, an employee of Namyang Dairy Products, who suffered unfavorable treatment such as a change of position after taking parental leave, appeared as a witness at the National Assembly Environment and Labor Committee's audit of the Ministry of Employment and Labor in October last year.
During the process of answering questions from Assemblyman Yoon, Choi stated, "When I joined the company, Namyang Dairy Products required female employees to sign a pledge to give up pregnancy." In response, Namyang Dairy Products filed a police report accusing Choi of defamation for making false statements.
The police explained, "Although there is no evidence to prove that Namyang Dairy Products required female employees to sign a pregnancy waiver when hiring in the past, there is also no evidence to deny this."
