Planting Trees and Donating 100 Million Won in Support at Ok-gye, Gangneung-si, a Large Wildfire Area
On the 19th, Woori Financial Group held a tree-planting event in the Ok-gye area of Gangneung City, where recovery efforts are underway following wildfire damage. View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Song Hwajeong] Woori Financial Group held a tree-planting event titled "Our Blue Earth, Let's Plant (心) Together (Earth)!!" on April 19 in Ok-gye, Gangneung City, Gangwon Province, a region affected by wildfires, to commemorate Earth Day on April 22. The event was attended by Chairman Sohn Tae-seung, Woori Bank President Lee Won-duk, and other executives and employees.
This tree-planting event symbolizes a wholehearted commitment to protecting the Earth. Woori Financial Group employees planted pine seedlings in the forests around Ok-gye-myeon, Gangneung City, which suffered significant damage from wildfires and is still undergoing restoration. Acting Mayor Jeong Il-seop of Gangneung and local residents of Ok-gye-myeon also participated in the event. Additionally, Chairman Sohn donated 100 million KRW to purchase small firefighting vehicles capable of navigating narrow roads and fields to combat wildfires, improve the welfare of volunteer firefighters dedicated to wildfire prevention and suppression, and support residents affected by the wildfires.
Chairman Sohn stated, "Woori Financial Group employees have joined forces to expedite the restoration of forests severely damaged by large-scale wildfires. We will continue to do our best to protect our precious Earth."

Woori Financial Group has been conducting the annual "Woori Financial Life Forest" support project, starting with the creation of the first forest at Inheung Elementary School in Goseong, Gangwon Province, which was damaged by the Goseong wildfire. The second forest was established at Eoul Elementary School in Anseong, Gyeonggi Province, and the third at Jinmyeong Girls' High School in Yangcheon-gu, Seoul. This year, they are preparing to create the fourth forest at Bugoo Middle School in Uljin, Gyeongbuk Province, which was affected by the large wildfires along the East Coast in Uljin and Samcheok. To commemorate Earth Day, they also supported the tree-planting event held at the first forest, Inheung Elementary School, and the maintenance of the first forest, continuously striving for eco-friendly social contribution activities.
