'Jihanpa' Kawamura Requests Attendance at Yoon's Inauguration Ceremony from Japanese Prime Minister
[Asia Economy Reporter Cho Hyun-ui] Takeo Kawamura, a former Chief Cabinet Secretary and one of the leading pro-Korea figures in Japan's ruling Liberal Democratic Party, requested Prime Minister Fumio Kishida to attend the inauguration ceremony of President-elect Yoon Suk-yeol.
According to the Nihon Keizai Shimbun on the 19th, former Minister Kawamura met with Prime Minister Kishida at the Prime Minister's Official Residence and proposed attending President-elect Yoon's inauguration ceremony scheduled for the 10th of next month.
Kawamura, who served ten terms as a member of the House of Representatives, is currently serving as the chairman of the Japan-Korea Friendship Association. He visited Korea on the 12th to attend the General Assembly of the Korea-Japan Friendship Association Central Committee held in Seoul and met with Jang Je-won, Chief Secretary and close aide to President-elect Yoon.
However, Prime Minister Kishida reportedly did not clarify his position regarding attendance at President-elect Yoon's inauguration ceremony.

After the meeting with the Prime Minister, former Minister Kawamura told reporters, "I conveyed to Prime Minister Kishida the Korean side's atmosphere of wanting to normalize Korea-Japan relations with the launch of the new government."
