According to government sources on the 18th, the Board of Audit and Inspection has been conducting a special audit on the overall revenue system of the Ministry of Economy and Finance since early this month. This is to examine the large-scale excess tax revenue discrepancy caused by the Taxation Office last year.

Last year, national tax revenue amounted to 344.1 trillion won. Compared to the revenue budget (282.7 trillion won) set at the initial budget formulation point in the fall of 2020, the tax revenue discrepancy reached 61.4 trillion won. The discrepancy rate compared to the original budget was 21.7%, the largest ever recorded.
