Naju City Expands Eligibility for 'Postpartum and Newborn Health Care Services' Support
[Naju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Naju City, Jeollanam-do announced on the 18th that it will expand the ‘Maternal and Newborn Health Care Service Support’ project to overcome low birth rates and create a birth-friendly environment.
This project dispatches health care workers to postpartum families to assist with postpartum recovery, newborn care, and household chores, and refunds part of the out-of-pocket expenses in addition to government subsidies.
Previously, according to the Ministry of Health and Welfare’s project guidelines, ‘Public Postpartum Care Center Cost Reduction’ and ‘Maternal and Newborn Health Care Service’ were considered similar projects and could not be supported simultaneously, but from this day forward, families can receive support from both projects.
In particular, the support eligibility, which was limited to those with an income below 150% of the median income, has been expanded to ‘all childbirth families exceeding 150%’, allowing service applications.
The government subsidy for dispatching health care workers varies depending on fetal type (single or multiple), birth order (first child, second child, etc.), income level, and service usage period (5 to 25 days).
Applications can be made by visiting the city health center, Bitgaram Health Life Support Center, or online through the Bokjiro website.
Within six months after the service ends, submitting the ‘Out-of-Pocket Expense Refund Claim Form’ and other required documents to the city health center or Bitgaram Health Life Support Center allows a refund of up to 190,000 KRW depending on the usage period.
Application results will be notified via phone and email, and the childbirth family selects the service period (standard, shortened, or extended) and signs a contract with the providing institution.
Seo Hyunseung, director of Naju City Health Center, said, “Along with the cost reduction for public postpartum care centers, we can now provide stable postpartum care services to childbirth families through the dispatch of health care workers. We will continue to develop various policies to make the city a good place to give birth and raise children, reduce the economic burden on childbirth families, and support newborn care.”
