Looking for the 'Best' to Protect Lives... Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency Holds Safety Product Evaluation Fair
Applications for Excellent Protective Gear, Safety Devices, and Explosion-Proof Electrical Equipment Open Until May 12
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Is there a world-class safety product that can protect workers' lives?
The Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency (KOSHA) is holding the "Guard Device and Protective Gear Quality Award (Daesang) Evaluation Contest" to select and award excellent safety products for industrial sites.
This year marks the 26th evaluation contest, conducted to promote the distribution and use of safe products in industrial sites and reduce industrial accidents.
Applicants must have safety certification under the Industrial Safety and Health Act for guard devices (explosion-proof equipment, temporary construction materials) and protective gear.
Participating companies can refer to the agency's website and submit the application form along with the relevant products to the Certification Center by May 12.
The agency plans to conduct online evaluations and expert reviews on the submitted products, assessing product form and appearance, structural and functional advancements, and ease of use.
Eight excellent products will be selected in the final round and divided into four categories, with each receiving prize money and plaques.
Companies or related products that have previously won awards or had their safety certification revoked due to special inspections by the Ministry of Employment and Labor will be excluded from the awards.
The award results will be announced on the agency's website in June, and the selected excellent products will be exhibited at the agency's promotional booth at the International Safety and Health Exhibition held at KINTEX in Ilsan in early July.
Additionally, to widely promote the excellence of these products, the agency plans to permanently display the award-winning products at the Ulsan headquarters' promotional exhibition hall, post them on the website, and produce and distribute promotional booklets.
Last year, a total of 23 companies submitted 23 products. The grand prize was awarded to a direct-connection full-face gas mask that is ultra-lightweight, highly flexible, and improved with a voice transmission plate to enable communication.
The Innovation Award for Accident Prevention was given to a temporary construction material work platform equipped with a fall-prevention device to prevent falls, among a total of eight awarded products.
