On Earth Day... Grand InterContinental Seoul Launches Vegan Chinese Menu
[Asia Economy Reporter Jeon Jinyoung] The Grand InterContinental Seoul Parnas announced on the 18th that it will launch a new vegan Chinese menu that enables low-carbon vegetarian practice ahead of Earth Day on the 22nd, along with eco-friendly packaging. Additionally, to encourage customers to participate in eco-friendly practices, the Grand Deli on the first floor will offer a 20% discount to customers who purchase beverages using tumblers until the end of April.
First, the modern Chinese restaurant ‘Weilu’ launched a new vegan Chinese course menu called ‘Vegetarian Special’ on the 13th, which uses plant-based protein to reduce carbon emissions. The seven-course menu includes vegetable appetizers with truffle, Cordyceps mushroom soup, vegetable dim sum with asparagus, spicy tofu eggplant, mushroom sweet and sour, a main dish, and dessert. For the main dish, customers can choose between vegan jajangmyeon or tangmyeon, both made with plant-based meat instead of pork.
In addition, the hotel is offering a ‘Green Stay Package’ with eco-friendly items until the end of May. The package includes two ‘Stojo’ eco-friendly tumblers engraved with the hotel logo and one InterContinental eco bag. Stojo is a foldable, portable silicone cup made from eco-friendly materials and comes with a reusable straw. Furthermore, guests who bring their personal tumblers to the Grand Deli on the first floor during their stay will receive two complimentary Americanos.

Moreover, the Grand InterContinental Seoul Parnas is showcasing various eco-friendly initiatives aligned with its hotel operation value of ‘sustainable luxury.’ In 2021, it completely replaced plastic room key cards used in all rooms with eco-friendly bamboo key cards and switched to label-free water bottles that are easy to recycle in all rooms. It also became the first in Korea to achieve the Platinum level certification from EarthCheck, a global environmental certification program, in November 2019. Starting from the Bronze level in 2008, it has steadily maintained environmental protection efforts for over ten years to reach Silver, Gold, and Platinum levels, a meaningful accomplishment.
