Russia Continues Attacks on Kyiv for Third Day... "Missile Destroys Ammunition Factory"
Russia Claims "Destruction of 68 Military Facilities"
[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] Russia announced on the 17th (local time) that it has been conducting airstrikes on Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, and its outskirts for the third consecutive day.
According to Interfax news agency, Igor Konashenkov, spokesperson for the Russian Ministry of Defense, stated in a morning briefing that "at dawn, we destroyed an ammunition production plant in the Brovary area of Kyiv Oblast with air-launched precision missiles." He also claimed that Russian tactical aircraft destroyed 68 military facilities across Ukraine, including S-300 surface-to-air missile launch sites in Donetsk Oblast in eastern Ukraine.
The Russian Ministry of Defense also reported that the previous day, they destroyed an armored vehicle factory in Kyiv and a military equipment repair facility in Mykolaiv in southern Ukraine using air-launched precision missiles. Earlier, on the 15th, they announced that they destroyed medium- and short-range surface-to-air missile and anti-ship missile production plants on the outskirts of Kyiv with the sea-launched long-range precision missile "Kalibr."
The Russian military had withdrawn from northern Ukraine at the end of last month, citing a focus on operations in the Donbas region in eastern Ukraine, and had temporarily halted attacks around Kyiv before resuming them on this day. They justified this as retaliation for Ukrainian attacks on Russian territory. On the 13th, the Russian Ministry of Defense warned that if Ukrainian forces continued sabotage or attempted strikes on facilities within Russian territory, the Russian military would respond by targeting command centers in Kyiv and other locations in Ukraine, which they had so far refrained from attacking. Russia claims that since late February, Ukrainian forces have repeatedly shelled or bombed Russian territory.
