People Power Party Incheon Mayor Primary Candidate Eliminated Shim Jae-don Declares "Support for Yoo Jeong-bok"

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] Shim Jae-don, a former preliminary candidate who was eliminated from the People Power Party's Incheon mayoral primary, has declared his support for former Incheon Mayor Yoo Jeong-bok.
On the 17th, Shim held a joint press conference with Yoo Jeong-bok in front of the Incheon City Hall and stated, "With a desperate determination to achieve the regime change brought about by Yoon Seok-yeol in Incheon as well, I will devote all my efforts to securing Yoo Jeong-bok's victory."
He added, "I will add my fresh ideas to Yoo's accumulated administrative and political experience," and appealed, "I ask for much support and encouragement for Yoo Jeong-bok, who will lead the changing Incheon in the future."
Yoo Jeong-bok expressed, "I am grateful for Shim's decision and support," and pledged, "Together with Shim, I will surely change the Incheon regime and meet the hopes of 3 million citizens and party members."
Yoo and Shim emphasized, "We promise to support the success of the Yoon Seok-yeol administration through victory in the Incheon mayoral election, recover the lost four years under Mayor Park Nam-chun, and create a happy Incheon for its citizens."
On the same day, Yoo appointed Shim as the election campaign committee chairman of his campaign office, 'Jeongbok Camp,' and officially began joint election activities.
Meanwhile, on the 12th, the People Power Party's Central Party Nomination Management Committee confirmed three preliminary candidates for the Incheon mayoral primary: Ahn Sang-soo, Yoo Jeong-bok, and Lee Hak-jae. Shim Jae-don, a former prosecutor and chairman of the Incheon Michuhol-Donggu Gap Committee, was eliminated.
The People Power Party's Incheon mayoral candidate will be decided by reflecting 50% responsibility party member votes and 50% public opinion polls. Election campaigning will be held from the 15th to the 19th of this month, followed by a primary on the 20th and 21st, with the final candidate confirmed on the 22nd.
