View original image[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Se-eun] An accident occurred in which an elderly man in his 80s was hit and killed by a car after the traffic light turned red before he could finish crossing the crosswalk.
According to the Jeju Eastern Police Station and Jeju Eastern Fire Station on the 16th, the accident happened around 8:37 PM the day before yesterday in Sehwa-ri, Gujwa-eup, Jeju City, where Mr. A (83) was hit by a car while crossing the crosswalk.
Mr. A was transported to a hospital in Jeju City in a state of cardiac arrest but ultimately passed away.
According to the police, Mr. A began crossing the crosswalk when the pedestrian signal was green, but the light turned red before he could finish crossing.
It was later reported that the driver of the vehicle did not notice Mr. A in time, resulting in the accident.
It has been confirmed that the driver was not under the influence of alcohol.
