Seong-gap Kim, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, Registers as Preliminary Candidate After 'Health and Medical Organization Leaders Meeting'
Gwangjin-gu Holds Meeting with Health and Medical Organization Leaders Following Full Lifting of Social Distancing by Quarantine Authorities
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gwangjin-gu (District Mayor Kim Seon-gap) held a “Meeting with Heads of Health and Medical Organizations” on the 15th to restore the precious daily lives of residents in the post-COVID-19 era, following the announcement by quarantine authorities of the full lifting of social distancing measures.
The meeting was organized to express gratitude on behalf of the residents to the representatives of medical staff who devoted themselves on the front lines of COVID-19 quarantine, and to listen to their opinions on the “Establishment of Post-COVID-19 Vision and Strategy” and the “Creation of a Hotline between Gwangjin-gu Office and Local Health and Medical Organizations” following the full lifting of social distancing after 2 years and 1 month.
Representatives from the Gwangjin-gu Medical Association, Pharmaceutical Association, Dental Association, Nursing Association, and Korean Medicine Association attended the meeting to share their intentions.
Kim Seon-gap, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, first emphasized that the medical staff who sacrificed to overcome COVID-19 over the past two years are the true heroes of society.
Mayor Kim said, “The 7th elected mayor is often called the ‘COVID Mayor,’ which means that all administrative power was focused on COVID-19. I believe this was possible because alongside this COVID Mayor were the staff who worked together and the medical staff who unwaveringly devoted themselves and fought on the front lines of COVID-19 quarantine. I sincerely thank the medical staff who fought alongside us against COVID-19 for over two years.”
He then proposed the “Plan to Establish a Hotline between Gwangjin-gu Office and Local Health and Medical Organizations” to establish a vision and strategy for a healthy and safe life for residents in the post-COVID-19 era, and discussed preemptive response measures against possible future infectious disease outbreaks.
Mayor Kim emphasized, “We plan to actively reflect the opinions of the experts attending today in the response policies for the post-COVID-19 era. As social distancing ends and quarantine and medical systems become normalized, the help of medical staff is absolutely necessary, so I hope a solid cooperative system will be established for the safety of residents.”
Meanwhile, Mayor Kim Seon-gap concluded his activities as the 7th elected mayor, who worked tirelessly for the residents, with the meeting with heads of health and medical organizations, and registered as a preliminary candidate for the 8th elected mayor.
