View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Na Ye-eun] As the whereabouts of Lee Eun-hae (31, female) and her accomplice Jo Hyun-soo (30), suspects in the 'valley murder case,' remain unknown, investigative authorities have reportedly secured Jo Hyun-soo's notebook containing words related to 'death insurance money.'
According to Channel A on the 14th, the police conducted a search and seizure targeting Lee Eun-hae and Jo Hyun-soo in May 2020 and obtained the notes written by Jo Hyun-soo.
The two-page notebook secured by the police contained words related to the death insurance money of Lee Eun-hae's husband, Yoon (39 at the time of death), such as '800 million won,' 'Financial Supervisory Service,' and 'police.'
Additionally, the notebook included the name of the police officer in charge of the initial investigation at Gapyeong Police Station at the time of the incident, as well as words raising questions about why the insurance payout was not made, including 'homicide' and 'precedent.' There were also terms like 'debt' and 'delayed interest,' which appear to refer to liabilities.
Lee Eun-hae and Jo Hyun-soo remain missing as of the 15th, the 17th day since their public wanted notice. They are suspected of murdering Yoon at Yongsogye Valley in Gapyeong-gun, Gyeonggi Province, around 8:24 p.m. on June 30, 2019. They are also accused of attempting to kill Yoon in February and May of the same year by feeding him food mixed with pufferfish poison and by drowning him in fishing waters.
The prosecution is conducting an investigation, judging that this was a planned murder aimed at the 800 million won life insurance policy taken out in Yoon's name.
Meanwhile, on the 13th, Pyo Chang-won, head of the Crime Science Research Institute and profiler, claimed that there is a high possibility of a third accomplice and argued that a reward should be offered for their capture. Regarding why Lee Eun-hae has not been apprehended so far, he said, "If the suspect has three conditions?criminal life experience, money, and accomplices?it is possible to remain hidden for a considerable period."
He added, "The greatest effect of a reward is to induce betrayal from people around the suspect or accomplices rather than from ordinary citizens. They have not formed such a long-term trust relationship. Since their connections are based on mutual interests, if a large reward is offered and their identities are guaranteed, they are highly likely to report immediately."

He also suspected the insurance agent who arranged the insurance policy in Yoon's name as a possible accomplice. Pyo said, "We are focusing on the insurance agent who arranged the 800 million won life insurance. Despite highly suspicious circumstances, the contract was maintained and managed continuously. It was also confirmed that the agent traveled with Lee Eun-hae and Jo Hyun-soo. Considering this special relationship comprehensively, this person should be noted and the possibility of complicity is quite high."
