View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Hyung-gil] SK Energy and SK Networks are partnering with Daecho Industry, the No.1 recycled tire manufacturer in Korea, to establish a low-carbon circular system using waste tires.
On the 15th, the three companies signed a business agreement at Daecho Industry's Gwangju factory in the Hanam Industrial Complex, Gwangju, to promote a waste tire pyrolysis project.
They plan to devise measures to improve the collection and supply system for waste tires generated domestically and verify the business feasibility of the waste tire pyrolysis process that produces carbon black and pyrolysis oil.
Approximately 380,000 tons of waste tires are generated annually in Korea, most of which are incinerated as industrial solid fuel or partially utilized as filler materials or recycled tires.
Accordingly, the three companies plan to jointly research ways to pyrolyze waste tires to produce recycled carbon and pyrolysis oil that can be used in various fields.
SK Energy will focus on researching methods to further refine pyrolysis oil recycled from waste tires to produce various products such as eco-friendly naphtha and eco-friendly aviation fuel, while Daecho Industry will establish an operation plan for pyrolysis facilities and be responsible for developing utilization methods for recycled carbon, whose demand is expanding domestically and internationally.
SK Networks will supply waste tires generated from over 650 Speedmate comprehensive car management brand stores nationwide to the pyrolysis project and build a business system that fosters coexistence and cooperation with waste tire collection companies.
