Continued Summons Investigations Over Two Consecutive Days
'Korea Midland Power HR Officer' Also Under Investigation
[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Sehee] The prosecution is accelerating its investigation into the alleged 'Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy blacklist.'
According to the legal community on the 15th, the Seoul Eastern District Prosecutors' Office summoned former Korea Trade Insurance Corporation President Moon Jae-do, former Korea Coal Corporation President Baek Chang-hyun, and former personnel officers of Korea Midland Power as witnesses for questioning this morning.
Former President Moon resigned in 2018 with half of his term remaining, and the prosecution conducted a search and seizure on eight public enterprises under the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, including Korea Trade Insurance Corporation, on the 28th of last month. Former President Baek submitted his resignation in October after being caught for hiring irregularities by the Board of Audit and Inspection in September 2017.
In addition, three personnel officers from Korea Midland Power were confirmed to have appeared before the prosecution for questioning today.

The prosecution summoned former Korea Electrical Safety Corporation President Lee Sang-kwon as a witness for questioning the day before. The Korea Electrical Safety Corporation, where Lee served, is not among the eight public enterprises under the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy that were searched by the prosecution on the 28th of last month.
