[Asia Economy Reporters Naju-seok and Kwon Hyun-ji] The National Assembly's Legislation and Judiciary Committee has agreed to hear the position of Prosecutor General Kim Oh-soo on the complete removal of prosecutorial investigation rights, known as ‘Geomsu Wanbak’ (complete abolition of prosecutorial investigation authority), on the 18th.
On the 15th, lawmakers from the People Power Party's Judiciary Committee held a press conference stating, "We have agreed that Prosecutor General Kim will attend on the 18th to express his position regarding the Geomsu Wanbak bill proposed by the Democratic Party," adding, "We understand that a summons will be sent today."
Initially, the People Power Party requested to convene the Judiciary Committee on that day, but Park Kwang-on, the Democratic Party member and chair of the Judiciary Committee, agreed to hold a full committee meeting with Prosecutor General Kim in attendance, postponing the schedule.
Prosecutor General Kim has raised constitutional issues regarding the Geomsu Wanbak law and demanded an opportunity to express his position in the Judiciary Committee.
Yoo Sang-beom, a People Power Party lawmaker serving as the Judiciary Committee's secretary, said, "Having the Prosecutor General attend to explain the Geomsu Wanbak law means that we have made it difficult for the prosecution, as the investigative body, to express its position," adding, "This will help accurately understand the substance of Geomsu Wanbak and form public opinion to block the bill."

Meanwhile, Prosecutor General Kim plans to visit the National Assembly again on the same day following the previous day to appeal the problems of the Geomsu Wanbak law to National Assembly Speaker Park Byeong-seok and others. In a meeting with reporters, Kim said, "If the prosecution has made mistakes, I believe the responsibility lies with me as the Prosecutor General leading the prosecution," and added, "I request that the National Assembly proceed with impeachment procedures against me before the legislative process."
