Osstem Implant Unit Chair ‘K5’ Wins Germany’s ‘iF Design Award 2022’, One of the World’s Top 3 Design Awards
[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Hyowon] Ostem Implant (CEO Eom Taegwan), the world's No. 1 implant seller, announced on the 15th that it won the main prize at the globally prestigious German ‘iF Design Award 2022 (International Forum Design Award 2022)’ on the 11th with its dental treatment chair (hereinafter ‘unit chair’) ‘K5’.
It is explained that this achievement follows last year's Presidential Award at the ‘Excellent Design (GD)’ product selection competition hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and organized by the Korea Institute of Design Promotion.
Started in 1953, the ‘iF Design Award’ is considered one of the world's top three credible design competitions along with Germany’s ‘Red Dot Design Award’ and the United States’ ‘IDEA Design Award (International Design Excellence Award)’. The design categories are operated in a total of nine sections including product, package, interior, and user experience (UX). This year, about 11,000 products from 57 countries were submitted to the ‘iF Design Award’.
Ostem Implant’s unit chair ‘K5’ received high scores for its ergonomic design, use of user-friendly materials, and distinctive color composition, winning the main prize (WINNER) in the ‘Medicine/Health’ product design category.
The head of Ostem Implant’s Design Research Institute explained, “We applied organic aesthetics and edge elements so that dentists can treat patients in an optimal environment and patients can receive treatment in a stable atmosphere, and we used colors that provide psychological comfort.”
He added, “We designed it considering ease of operation, space utilization, user interface (UI), and infection control, and as a result, the convenience of treatment is remarkably superior to other companies’ products.”
The Ostem Implant Design Research Institute, which led this design award achievement, is the largest organization in the domestic dental industry overseeing all designs of Ostem Implant. The Design Research Institute, composed of specialized designers in each field such as product, brand, software UI/UX, and interior, is believed to have influenced this award by demonstrating synergy across various design areas.
