The frog ladder installation volunteer activity is a biodiversity conservation effort jointly carried out by the non-governmental organization (NGO) Korea Federation for Environmental Movements and LG Uplus, continuing from last year. It was established to help endangered amphibians cross concrete irrigation channels.
In its second year, about 60 LG Uplus employees participating in the frog ladder installation volunteer activity have been installing frog ladders since last month in areas such as Siheung and Paju in Gyeonggi Province, Asan in Chungnam Province, and Yangsan in Gyeongnam Province, where endangered species like the Suwon tree frog, golden frog, yellow-bellied tree frog, and black-spotted pond frog inhabit.
On the 13th, in Yangsan City, frogs were captured crossing irrigation channels by climbing the ladders, and the globally endangered species, the Korean crevice salamander (Goridorongnyong), was also discovered.
