To Prevent Accidents While Walking for Wharf Workers... Busan Port Authority Creates Safe Passage at Gamcheon Port
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] Busan Port Authority (BPA) has created a safety passageway to prevent accidents involving workers while walking at the Gamcheon Port West Side Public Wharf.
The safety passageway was established by installing about 250 concrete boundary blocks along a 1.3 km section adjacent to the security fence of the west side wharf, considering the site conditions where stacked steel cargo could potentially fall on pedestrians.
BPA expects high satisfaction on site as the section for the safety passageway was selected by actively reflecting the opinions of wharf workers and port security personnel.
Additionally, 15 signboards were installed near the safety passageway to prevent accidents such as falls during nighttime walking.

Kang Jun-seok, President of BPA, said, “The Gamcheon Port West Side Wharf involves steel cargo handling using heavy equipment in a confined facility, which poses a high risk of safety accidents. We expect that the creation of the safety passageway will help prevent safety accidents for workers while walking.”
