Song Ju-beom, Former Seoul Metropolitan Council Member, Nominated as Seoul Deputy Mayor for Political Affairs
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] Seoul City announced on the 14th that it has nominated Song Ju-beom, former Seoul Metropolitan Council member (former People Power Party Seodaemun-gu Eul district committee chairman), as the new Deputy Mayor for Political Affairs who will work closely with Mayor Oh Se-hoon to lead Seoul's administration.
The Deputy Mayor for Political Affairs of Seoul assists the mayor by coordinating and negotiating Seoul City's affairs with the National Assembly, the Metropolitan Council, the media, and political parties. This position is a vice-ministerial political official appointed by the mayor.
Song Ju-beom, the nominee for Deputy Mayor for Political Affairs, graduated from Konkuk University and earned a master's degree in public administration from the same university's graduate school. He has consistently participated in and advised on economic sectors such as LG Chem and POSCO Engineering & Construction. In particular, he served as a member of the 7th Seoul Metropolitan Council and as chairman of the Seoul Metropolitan Council's Budget and Accounts Committee, earning a reputation for his deep understanding of Seoul's overall policies.

Seoul City explained, "Song is scheduled to be appointed on the 18th. He has excellent political skills, having served as a National Assembly aide and as chairman of the People Power Party Seodaemun-gu Eul district committee. We expect him to establish close external cooperative relationships with the National Assembly and the newly launched Yoon Seok-yeol administration."
