Hampyeong Sarang Gift Certificates '99.9% Sales Rate' Proving to Be a Big Help for the Local Economy
Since its introduction in 2011, 102.5 billion issued
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] Since its introduction in 2011, the Hampyeong Sarang Gift Certificate has achieved a sales rate of 99.9%, playing a significant role in revitalizing the local economy.
According to the county on the 13th, a total of 102.5 billion KRW worth of Hampyeong Sarang Gift Certificates were issued from 2011, when it was first introduced, to 2021, and as of the end of last year, sales reached 102.4 billion KRW, driving the local economy.
The county analyzes that the increase in sales rate is due to the 10% special discount, the introduction of a mobile payment system, and the expansion of affiliated stores, which have enhanced the recognition and convenience of the local currency.
Additionally, through an agreement last August, the places where the gift certificates can be purchased were expanded from the existing Nonghyup Bank to 19 regional financial institutions including Gwangju Bank, the Korea Forest Service Cooperative, and Shinhan Credit Union, improving users' purchasing accessibility.
A county official stated, "We will strive to establish a sound distribution order of the gift certificates by not only resolving inconveniences for users due to increased demand but also strengthening continuous monitoring to prevent illegal distribution."
Meanwhile, the monthly purchase limit per person for the Hampyeong Sarang Gift Certificate is 700,000 KRW (300,000 KRW for paper type, 400,000 KRW for mobile type), and corporations can purchase but are excluded from discounts.
